It started off with a realization: we hated pink!
We grew up hating and rejecting pink, despite having the most different cultural and geographical background, a color we were “supposed” to love. Because pink was a symbol of everything feminine: delicate, graceful, pretty… but isn’t rejecting femininity also an admission of patriarchy? Who can femininity belong to? How can we break free from societal expectations and discover our true desires?
Join us in the fight to reclaim the color pink from the clutches of decades of appropriation as a symbol of questionable definitions of femininity. Under the rebellious exclamation “We hate pink!”, we combine dance, theater, lecture-performance and party formats into a playful and ironic critique of how femininity is perceived and maintained. It’s an invitation to question our ways of moving and arranging our bodies and faces, our appearance and disappearance, and when to take up space or hide.
“How can we reclaim pink, reclaim femininity, redefine femininity for ourselves?”
